First Friday Trunk Show

The East Village will be hopping with events the evening of August 1st - as First Friday will be in full swing.

Vitae will be featuring a kid friendly trunk show with jj & jojo, a local line of upcycled clothing for girls ranging from  2T to 6Y.  There will also be purses, jewelry and other size free options, as well as adorable

bow ties for brother.

One crafty item we're anxious to see will be gathered skirts with blank panels and fabric paint for budding designers to customize!  There will be coloring, cutting, snacking and friend-making going on, so do drop by and meet the designer and her little muse this Friday from 6 to 8.

Craft Crawl!

Be sure to make the East Village your first stop this Friday night for something you won't want to miss.

During the months we actually want to go outside and do things, you can generally find great stuff going on in the Village on First Fridays - from open houses, sales, product launches and trunk shows to a few beers,  a cheese log (hey, we're not making promises here) and evening shopping hours in some of your favorite shops.

For May, so many are participating and it all sounds amazing.  The idea for the Craft Crawl, taking place between 5 and 8 pm,  originated with Jen at Eden and the artist she is hosting, Marissa Rae Kephart of The Moon & The Honey.  Quickly, we all jumped on board. It's a swell idea.  We're excited to be hosting a trunk show for Acanthus Apparel as they officially launch their much anticiated Kid's line.

First Friday in the East Village: 6-1

First Fridays are back in full swing in the East Village.  Many spots are hosting great events (you may just have to "shop hop"!), and others are open extended hours on June 1st.

Here's a rundown of what's on our radar:

Ephemera  505 E. Locust  is hosting an opening reception for artist Kate Hiveley from 5 to 8 pm.  Her works will be on display through June.

Thee Eye  333 E. Grand #108  is showing Sou*ve*nirs: new works from artist Lee Ann Conlan.  The opening reception for this much anticipated installation will be Friday 6 to 10pm.

Raygun  400 E. Locust  Open till 7,  regular awesome hours.

Jett & Monkey's Dog Shoppe  503 E. Locust  Open till 7 - as always (tail wag)!

Fluxx Gallery  333 E. Grand #104  Check out the opening reception for Young Bloods, a group show.

Eden  418 E. 6th   Join them for BBQ and Peace Tree Brewing Company beer as they feature Men's products in honor of the guys in our lives. 

Domestica  321 E. Walnut  "Open a little later"...we'll see how long they can hold out before heading over to the BBQ on E. 6th...head over & make them busy!

Vitae   400 E. Locust #4   Open till 8pm or as long as Melissa can hold out before heading over to the Beer!

Next Month's First Friday will be the 4th of July weekend...so we'll just see ;)

First Friday Events

It's May 4th and you know what that means. First Friday in the East Village is officially underway. Although Vitae isn't hosting an event, the store will be open until 8 p.m. tonight. Below are just a few of the shops that will be hosting events. Come out, enjoy the warm weather and explore the area.

Artisans Jewelry is celebrating their third year in the East Village. Stop by for beer and wine and help celebrate their anniversary. 

Eden is bringing a little bit of the south to Iowa...Kentucky Derby style. The boutique will be hosting a launch party for Caldrea's newest fragrance, Palmarosa Wild Mint. Festive drinks will be served and Eden is offering a free gift with any Caldrea purchase of $25 or more. 

Fluxx Gallery... newest show, The Flying Buttress is My Friend by Edward Kelley. The event lasts from 7-10 p.m. and will run through May 31st. Go to www.fluxxgallery.com for more information.

It's That Time Of Year!

First Friday's is picking up where it left off last year and starting it's engine this coming Friday (May 4th). We will be open until 8pm and have some new things for you to fight over. 

Acanthus has a new print on the Alternative Apparel backless tee. 

Also, the Indian Print hoodie has been restocked!

1st Friday Fun! December 3rd

First Friday is tomorrow night from 6-8pm in the East Village. December's much anticipated project: Paper Garlands! Learn to make these colorful keepsakes for the holidays and beyond...bring your own scrapbook paper & Stephanie Bracelin will show you the ropes...or the string or whatever...I'm just in charge of treats (can you say chocolate Kahlua cake??).
